What kind of city is Yokohama?

Yokohama is a city that holds a special place in the hearts of most Japanese. It is a vibrant city that, on holidays, draws people from all over the country, whether they are young couples on dates or families with children. The reason the city attracts so many visitors lies in its many and varied facets. You can take a walk along the harbor while admiring the buildings or enjoy shopping or good food at the many malls and restaurants or maybe experience the wonders of Chinatown. The warterfront area known as Minato Mirai 21 is particularly popular. With the many festivals and events held throughout the year, Yokohama is a lively and colorful city.

Sightseeing in Yokohama

Containing a shopping mall, hotel, and offices, the tower has an observatory on its 69th floor called Sky Garden, which offers a grand panoramic view encompassing everything from downtown Tokyo to Mount Fuji.

› Yokohama Chinatown:
This district is one of the largest Chinatowns in the world . It is packed with approximately 500 shops and restaurants where you can sample Chinese cuisine and purchase sundries, foodstuffs, clothing, and various other goods, Once you pass through the colorful gate, you will find a different world filled with the energy of the people who live in the town and Chinese culture.

› Sankeien Garden:
Opened in 1906 by Sankei Hara, an accomplished industralist who is known as a devoted patron of the arts, this lovely Japanese-style garden spans a vast area of 180,000 m/2, Officially named a place of national scenic beauty in 2007, the grounds contain historical structures relocated from Kyoto, Kamakura, and other places (10 nationally designated important cultural assets stipulated by Yokohama City).
